Sr. Iman Alkassir (Umm Yasser), was born and raised in Iowa City, IA but has spent most of her life in Denver, CO. Her journey to Islam began over 35 years ago and she has devoted herself to the pursuit higher Islamic education since.
Sr. Iman Alkassir has been an integral part of the Denver Muslim community working very closely with women and youth helping to bring them closer to Islam through various community projects, classes, and outreach programs. She has taught middle-school Islamic Studies for five years at Crescent View Academy in Denver. She has worked with Colorado Muslim Family Services providing advocacy to women and children in domestic violence situations and served as an assistant Chaplain in the Denver County Jail system mentoring and advocating for the rights of Muslim women who were incarcerated.
Sr. Iman Alkassir is a 2016 Tayseer Seminary graduate and also holds certificates from Bayyinah in the fundamentals of Quranic Arabic as well as Al-Qaidah Al-Noorania. Her journey included living in Damascus, Syria where she was fully immersed in the Arabic language and Syrian culture for over three years. She has most recently taught beginning Arabic classes to Muslim women in Denver.
After being a student of Tayseer Seminary, Sr. Iman is deeply honored to return as a teacher and implement her knowledge and experiences to serve the Muslim community of Knoxville.
