Are you hoping to increase your understanding of the Qur’an? Whatever your background in Arabic, Tayseer’s Summer Arabic Intensive is designed to facilitate your journey towards understanding the Words of Allah. Our faculty have combined decades of experience in teaching Arabic at world-class institutions of higher learning and are eager to be a part of your journey. The Intensive classes are offered at three levels this summer:

Beginners

• Pre-requisites: You should be able to read the Qur’an, recognize and write the letters of the Arabic alphabet. No background in grammar or vocabulary required.
• Topics covered: Basic sentence structure, grammar, formation of present and past tense verbs, Qur’anic vocabulary, and verbal and written communication.

Intermediate

• Pre-requisites: Equivalent of one or more years of college level Arabic. You should be familiar with present and past tense verb formation, noun case endings (i’rab), and singular, dual and plural noun forms.
• Topics covered: Intermediate topics in grammar and morphology with emphasis on 10 verb forms. Practical application through in-depth analysis of the Qur’an. Verbal and written communication.

Advanced

• Pre-requisites: Equivalent of two or more years of college level Arabic. Ability to read Qur’an with basic understanding, carry on basic conversations.
• Topics covered: Review of core concepts in grammar and morphology and acquisition of new vocabulary through in-depth analysis of the Qur’an and classical Islamic texts.

Is there a minimum age requirement?

All programs are for students ages 15 and up.

Where will the classes be held?

All classes will be held in-person at Tayseer Seminary. Our address is 706 Mabry Hood Rd, Knoxville, TN, 37932.

What time will the classes be held?

All classes will be held from 9 AM – 1 PM, Monday thru Friday.

Is there a residential option for students from out of town?

While we do not provide student housing or rentals, we are happy to assist students from out of town in exploring options for accommodations in Knoxville. Please email [email protected] with housing inquiries.

What if I can’t afford these classes? Do you offer any financial assistance?

Do I need to purchase any class materials?

Tuition covers the cost of materials for all programs.

I’m not sure which class is best for me.

Sign up for the class that you feel is most likely to be appropriate for your level. All students will take a placement test before classes begin and will have a chance to consult with instructors to ensure that they are in the appropriate class.  

Are classes offered online?

The Summer 2022 Intensive is in-person only. Please stay tuned for announcements regarding online classes.

Is there a placement exam?

All students will take a placement exam shortly before the beginning of classes to ensure appropriate class placement.
